Joy lives here

I won’t go…
They told me I have to…
I dug my heels deep in the earth to escape his strength …
Stop…you can’t take me..I won’t go…
Crooked smiles passed as he led the way…
I resisted sprouting obscenities and pulling at his scratchy coat…
I won’t go, but I can’t break free…
Pleads and commas left my broken lips…
Don’t take me, I’m not ready…joy still lives here…
Rug burns and tattered fabric dressed my knees encouraging my resistance…
Fear consumes my being reminding me of my journeys end…
I won’t go…
Joy still lives here…
Tears coat my cheeks like thorny roses…
I tug more…
I won’t go…
I’ll continue my fight…
I chose to live…
