KATIE WALSH | SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR
Which came first: social, or self-stigma? Would one exist without the other? My dream is to live in a world where both do not exist. I would love to live in a world where mental illness is never used as an insult, or in media as a horror genre. I would love my head to be a place that doesn’t insult me or feel like a horror genre.
I believe it starts with conversations. I believe it starts with being visible and sharing our stories. So many of us were given the story that mental illness was shameful. When we walk away from this idea, when we start walking away from shame, we start walking away from the stigma that creates discrimination.
Change is coming. Hope is coming. We are coming to Fight Stigma.
